There are many different types of therapy and different types of hypnotherapy. What sets Solution Focused Hypnotherapy apart is how we focus on the future, on the positive changes you want to make. Apart from any background information that you choose to share with me in the Initial Consultation, and for Fears and Phobias, I will not ask you to look back over past negative experiences. As a consequence the sessions have a positive focus towards the future. 

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy draws upon techniques used in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). These techniques are very effective at focusing the mind on positive changes that can improve life. Hypnosis, a very natural state of focused attention, is then used to help to make these changes easier to implement. 

Hypnotherapy can not make these changes happen magically and should you choose to have sessions with me it is essential that you commit to taking an active part in sessions, listen to the relaxation track provided and attend regular sessions.


The Initial Consultation

 
In the Initial Consultation we look at how hypnotherapy might help you to improve your life. I explain how the primitive brain can have a negative impact on our emotions. We explore changes that it is possible to make which may alter our state of mind for the better. I also give you a recording of my relaxation track which is a required part of the process in addition to hypnotherapy sessions. We discuss how many sessions might be needed, but everybody is different and so this does vary from person to person. As sessions progress we gain clearer insight into how many sessions might be required based on progress made to date. You book from session to session and there is never an obligation to continue with therapy, it is always your choice to make.


Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Sessions

 
The hypnotherapy sessions are an opportunity for you to switch off from those parts of life that aren’t of benefit to you. During the first part of the session we talk about how you want life to be, and we discuss how you can make that possible. Then we move on to the hypnosis where your mind can wander and discover ways to achieve these changes. Hypnosis is a very natural state which is similar to that feeling of daydreaming, maybe when you’re in the queue at a supermarket for example. You are always fully conscious and in control, you may just feel relaxed as you listen to me speak. Many clients feedback that they find the sessions enjoyable and by the end of the session they often feel more upbeat and motivated to achieve those things that make life better.
